Quarterly empties | skincare + make up products

beauty empties | Philippines

They say that "first impression lasts." But ladies, it's not the same thing with beauty products. Have you experienced a short-lived romance with some products?  I have, several times, in fact. You know, when you fall in love with a certain makeup or skincare product but only for the first few days of using it until you realized that it's really not that good. That's why First Impression Reviews isn't that convincing, at least for my opinion. I opt for reviewing beauty products after emptying or using them for at least a month or so. That way, I know which ones really work for me. 😉

As my first entry for my Quarterly Empties series on the blog, here are the beauty products that I've used up for the second quarter of 2018:
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, Maybelline Powder Mattes, Celeteque Dual CC Matte Powder, Careline Brow Gel, Careline Better Than Basic Brow Liner, Celeteque Alcohol-free toner, Skin Genie Lip and Cheek Stain and Belo Intense White Deodorant.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. Many beauty gurus love this drugstore concealer, and some even say that it's a dup of Nars. I cannot attest to that since I haven't tried Nars concealer yet. Perhaps, this Fit Me Concealer from Maybelline is creamy and easy to blend. It's good as an everyday concealer with medium coverage. I also love the thin packaging, making it a travel-friendly item. This one is okay but not my favorite. I'm still on the search for the one that has a better coverage.

Maybelline PowderMattes. The best thing about Maybelline's wide collection of lip products is that they don't dry your lips, even the mattes. I have mine in the shade Noir Red, which I find perfect for my pale-looking face. It glides well on my lips, and it doesn't give me a greasy feeling nor emphasizes my chapped lips. ♡

Celeteque Dual CC MAtte Powder. The first thing I noticed (and I've loved since then) is the mirror and separator inside this square compact. I could dampen my sponge without worrying that it would smell rubbery when I put it back in the compact since there's a separator from the powder itself. It also has SPF 30 and really good for touch-ups. However, if you want a full coverage, it may not be the right matte powder for you.

Careline Brow Gel | PHP 145. Since I have an oily skin, my brow makeup doesn't usually make it all day. So I pledge to include brow gel in my makeup kit from now on. My first try goes to Careline Tinted Brow Gel in the shade Biscuit. To be frank, I don't like the packaging. But since Careline is initially a brand for teens, I totally get the "cutesy" look of it. Anyway, it's one of the products that I love only for the first few days. Yes, it tames my brows and keeps it in place for the whole day but I prefer brow gels with a more precise and small spoolie for my brows. But not bad at all; maybe a 3/5 rating for this.

Careline Better Than Basic Brow Retractable Liner | PHP 150. I bought this after watching a few Youtube videos. 🙈 heh! It's one of the most-reviewed local drugstore makeup in the Philippines. I tried it myself and I'm impressed. It has an angled tip on one side and a spoolie on another. The tip doesn't easily break and it's very easy to glide. I have this in the shade Taupe.

Skin Genie Lip and Cheek Stain. If you're familiar with BeautyMNL, it's one of their bestsellers there. It retails for as low as 80 pesos. Yes, 80 pesos for a lip and cheek tint! That's a pretty steal! So I bought one (in the shade, Tulip Red) because of the good reviews on the site and was really excited to try it out. Surprisingly, I'm a bit disappointed because it's too watery. I thought it was pigmented but not. On the other hand, at an affordable price, you could achieve a natural blush with this roll-on tint.

Belo Intense White Deo (40 ml):  PHP 104.75; Celeteque Alcohol-free Toner (65 ml): PHP 79.75

Belo Intense White Deo. It's my first time using this deodorant from Belo, as I'm a Nivea user for years. Although I love that it's alcohol-free, I don't think it's true to its claim to bring "visibly lighter and smoother underarms in 7 days." I'm also not a fan of its scent, which smells like a chemical. Sadly, I'm not going to repurchase it.

Celeteque Hydration Alcohol-free toner. Ever since I learned that alcohol in skin products is bad,
I started looking for alcohol-free ones. Sadly, most drugstore toners are not alcohol-free. But I'm lucky because I found the one for me! This Celeteque Hydration Alcohol-free toner with Witch Hazel is actually one of my skincare essentials. I'm on my 2nd bottle now, and to think that I'm not into toners before, this product really changed my life.

That's it for this quarter. Do you have any makeup or skin care products that you highly recommend? Let me know in the comment section. 😊 Catch you all later!
